«Do we christians have any choice?» What do we choose: «To die from a bullet, or to be beheaded?» It’s written: «If any of you wants to be My follower, you must put aside your selfish ambition, shoulder your cross, and follow Me». Do we really believe, that we have any alternative to these words, if we live in Jesus Christ? This, what Jesus suggests, means death for our own soul and for the earthly things. Where do you see here the call to a successful life, and to prosperity in this world? Why do believers often create their own versions of the Gospel and God’s will for their own life? Soonest of all, it’s because of the lack of devotion to Jesus and disbelief in His words. This is the reason, why so many people are not faithful to the Gospel. It’s always more convenient for us to believe, that christianity is like a fun-fair: it’s like a mega market with a great choice of lives and fortunes (like in a fairy-tale) and the most important fact — people think, that everything this is covered with a thick layer of the earthly happiness. In this supermarket everyone can choose how to live and whom to be. Christians have managed to broaden their way to such a degree, that modern life according to Gospel includes everything our soul desires and thirsts. In the former USSR there was such a saying: «I will carry my own mother through the entrance checkpoint». Believers are definitely sure, that God loves them so much, that He doesn’t care at all what they believe and how they believe, and who will put the Gospel into action. According to modern evangelic technologies, everything can be justified. But it’s written very strictly in relation to everyone: if you don’t have oil in your lamp — you go to hell, if you didn’t forgive your brother — you go to hell, if you haven’t multiplied your talents — you go to hell, if you haven’t done the will of God for your life — you go to hell, if you are not dressed in wedding clothes — you go to hell, etc. God doesn’t have compromises. He puts everything in its places. His world is black and white, without any shadows of grey. People are afraid of radical Gospel and of those who believe genuinely (according to the real Gospel). Such people are not convenient for the society and for the church. Christians are fond of hearing the speechmakers, who preach the life in its fullness, the life in which you have the red caviar, sausages, apartments on the seashore, a beautiful wife, genius children, a high position in the society. This world is doomed to be burned in fire. Is it so important who we are in this world? In my opinion, it’s more important to be who you are in Jesus Christ. But it doesn’t look like a high position among people, even among intelligence. But for sure it will not look disgusting in the eyes of the Lord. When you hear about the possibility to make a choice, I ask a question: «Is hell really a choice, an alternative?» I DO NOT SEE A CHOICE IN THE GOSPEL. In the Gospel I see only a calling to do the will of God, with punishment for refusal. Those believers, who think that God is only love, will be unpleasantly surprised, when they wake up in the hell. When you preach about God’s love, you shouldn’t also forget to preach about His judgement and His justice. You shouldn’t forget to preach about His faithfulness to His Word. His justice is deeply and broadly described in the Gospel. The so-called «choice» offered by Jesus (as people think) will make you burn in fire, coming from hell. And it makes you forget about the earthly life. You’d better had the choice not to be born at all, or to be born a baobab tree, than to know the Gospel and to keep fooling yourself around as to the choice offered by Jesus. When we promise unbelievers a sweet life in faith, then something comes to my memory, for example: a shell game, «dolls game», financial pyramids like MMM, which were very popular in the 90th. Jesus is not Mavrody (the founder of a big financial pyramid), who burns up in you the lust for money, in order to catch you into his nets. Our Lord tells us the truth, even if it has a bitter taste or is unpleasant to our soul.
The Gospel makes our soul dead, and doesn’t nourish it. A confession or denomination can’t be a choice, because each one is justified by HIS (personal) faith, which is based on the Word of God, not on human dogmas or agreements. In Deuteronomy the Lord also offered the choice: if you are not obedient to the voice of the Lord you God, then you’ll have the following «jack pot» (all illnesses and curses of the loving God). Is it a choice? Why christians are so romantic, and why do they fly in their dreams? These dreams are not coming from the Gospel. Jesus told that a student is not greater than the teacher. And if the Teacher and the Lord was treated like this and that, then why do you order for yourself another life and have another claims? Jesus didn’t say that all will be limited only by His sufferings; He told that we must also lose our souls for Him, and for the sake of the Gospel. That is, you must follow His way. And at this, He didn’t leave the choice for those, who are weak in faith, or who has many children, who is very busy at work or in society. No matter if your are poor or overloaded with riches, no matter if you are powerful in this world, or your opinion matters nothing even for your own cat. Jesus offers the same conditions for all people, He doesn’t look at faces and at peoples’ significance in this world. The question of choice is not regarded in the Gospel. And if it is regarded, then only in a very strict way. AMEN!!!
