Connections between souls are like adhesions and cords between people, which result as a consequence of human relations, and they can be used by both the Lord and the satan. In other words, soul connections are like invisible threads, sometimes ropes, which tie people to one another. But it’s a very broad subject. That’s why we shall regard only separate moments for the better understanding of the question.
People are connected to each other by their souls — by friendship, by marriage, by school (in youth), by hobby (fishing), by work, by relatives, by the same church, by similar understanding of faith (confessions, denominations) etc. There are pluses and minuses in all that. Many people are holding on to their churches for tens of years, they are connected to them due to their soul connections with other people in their gathering, but not with God. Possibly, they never had their personal faith or relations with Him. But they are connected to the gathering, to the pastor, to the building etc. They feel comfortable in the midst of other people, they feel accepted, loved, cared for, and nobody demands anything from them. That’s why for many years on run they are attending the same church. That is, when a pastor connects people to himself — it’s wonderful. Jesus’ disciples couldn’t boast of their great faith, but for sure they were tied to Jesus as to a person (John was laying on His chest). So many marriages are kept by these ties of souls without genuine love — it’s difficult even to count. Very many. Parent are holding their children back from unnecessary actions, often using the soul ties. The harmony of a team in sport (hockey), in business (connections, acquaintances), in the army also depends on soul ties and connections. We can talk without stopping about relatives, godfathers and godmothers and ties between them. These are invisible nets consisting of steel ropes. And when we are building such connections with a newly-born, it’s wonderful — because it helps him take root in the church. Not all people become spiritual quickly. Together with the first love to Jesus these soul connections help them go through difficult periods in their life and faith. But then it can be an obstacle in growth of the personal faith. Let’s regard some situations. A newly-born started to grow spiritually through his personal relations with God, and very actively. God started to lift him. And at this, some believers got tempted, some of them felt rebukes of conscience for their slow growth (for they attend the same church for 10 years already), and some simply don’t want changes in their lives and start to pull back the newly-born, who is growing in faith. Spiritual connections will be used by such a person as an instrument. Devil will use such people to stop the spiritual growth. The same instrument in a devil’s hands can be a wife or a husband, even if they are believers. Of course, not in all cases. Relatives, friends, colleagues are on the first place in this list. Also children who are ashamed of the fact, that their mother attends this church (or sect, as they think). The windows in my car were broken not by the husbands of believing wives, but by their children. And the mother’s soul was broken. Did anyone count how many wives left the church just because their husbands didn’t let them attend it? When the close people are pressing the newly-born: don’t go to this sect, you are a disgrace to us — what is the outcome? To leave them (Mk.10:29). The first commandment breaks the worldly soul connections and puts God on the first place. Very often christians without families are not in search of godly things, but more in search of the second half. It’s because devil presses on their souls. What happens when a close person or a relative passes away? The soul connections with him are broken, and emptiness comes. That’s why non-believing people are aspiring with their souls to those, who have passed away and arrange memorial days. That’s why Jesus said He brought division (Math.10:34,37) — the breakage of soul connections. That is, the breakage of soul ties, which control people and don’t let God take the first place in their lives. Jesus calls enemies the people from our own household. In Matt.10:37 He says that those who love their close people (He enumerates them) more that Him, are not worthy of Him. Parents in the world are controlling their children right to death. And children keep obedient to them, because of unbroken soul connections, even if they don’t agree with their parents and are already married. A shipwreck in many families happens because of interference of people from the outside — because of soul connections between parents and their children, which were not broken.
For the time of my spiritual growth I lost many friends, who were believers, and it was a very painful process. And it often happened, because they were an obstacle on my way to the will of God. We need friendship and relations with other believers — it’s a fact! But there always comes a moment, when somebody moved on and somebody stopped on the way. The break will happen for sure, and it will be very painful, probably with a scandal (Acts 15:39). Nobody will avoid it. That’s why it’s better to know about it beforehand, in order to be ready. Amen!
