I remember how they preached in the church about faithfulness in little things. This is what is actual today and will be actual all the time. I reached the new level in faith through my faithfulness in little things. When I started from the home church and other ministries, I didn’t even expect that was the way to multiplication and moving forward into His will. Today I understand that it’s also a way to multiplication of the church and getting blessings in life.
So to begin with: who is a faithful servant? It is the one who is doing every day the same things, from day to day. And it doesn’t matter whether it’s raining, or it is cold, or it is snowing, or I am in a bad mood — I do the same in spite of everything. It doesn’t matter if I have no money, or I am in straitened circumstances, or I have obstacles in my way, or I was abandoned by everyone — I continue to do my work faithfully. When a man is going to the same place of work for 10 years — he is a faithful slave to his work. And through this faithfulness comes professionalism and promotion at work. When somebody is bringing up children for 20 years, we can say that he is devoted to these children etc.
I ask you a question: «Can we draw a parallel between faithfulness and devotion to this or that work?» Why not? faithfulness and devotion are brothers. In marriage faithfulness and devotion come together hand in hand. Ask about devotion the professionals, who have reached perfection in their work. Each of them will preach you a story for five volumes without stopping.
Now let’s get back to faith. For many times in three Gospels Jesus repeated: a faithful servant. Do we have to specify what kind of devotion He is speaking about? Of course it’s devotion to Jesus and devotion to fulfilling of His will, which He entrusted to believers through His proverbs or His direct commandments. But Jesus didn’t tell that the one who is faithfully going to the church will be accepted as a faithful servant (the proverbs keep silent on this subject). The speech was obviously about actions: a prayer, distribution of food in time (ministers), multiplication of talents, discipleship, preaching, casting out demons, healing etc. But it is never mentioned that we only have to hold the name of Jesus in our minds and to learn by heart several verses from the Bible. In Matthew 25:21-23 Jesus says that the one who is faithful, turns out also a good servant in His eyes. But God doesn’t make a pause here and He names the faithful servant not only a good servant, but also a reasonable one. And this is what God is telling about us. Isn’t it cool? God calls you and me a good servant, and thinks us also reasonable ones as judged from our faithfulness to His tasks and goals. What else do you need if you can get such compliments from God? Think about it.
And now we shall speak about faithfulness in little things and what is waiting for us behind it? When Jesus distributed talents, (Matthew 25:14-29) somebody got 5 talents, somebody got 10, and these people didn’t fight between themselves for each others’ talents. But they were humble and faithful enough to make use of the talents each of them received. Although it’s quite possible that they had ambitions for a greater quantity of talents. But each one went to grow what he had received. And because each one was faithful to what he had received in the beginning, he got more. Ten talents didn’t grow into fifteen, but they grew into much more. They grew to 10 cities. Did these people have the initial potential to rule 10 cities? Yes! But why didn’t God give them these cities at once, but instead He checked their faithfulness in working over that little what they had? Humbleness is being grown through faithfulness not to big things, but to little things. Ambitions are dying, when you serve in little things.
I remember the time when the church I started didn’t multiply. And it was not for one year. Other pastors kept testifying about growth, but in my church nothing happened. When I was trying to dig deep down into myself, it also brought no result. But in my humbleness I remained faithful to my ministry. And quite of a sudden the multiplication came, about which I didn’t even dream. It was the work the Word. Powerful people came to church, etc. It’s impossible to explain. Multiplication just came and that’s all. And any minister will confirm that God will not give or multiply the ministry, unless He finds faithfulness in little and insignificant things. Amen!
